This delightful but demanding tour is characterized by the wildly romantic Rötenbach Gorge. With a large number of trails, rustic forests and lots of water, the hike offers a particularly natural experience. Especially in the long gorge passage, the landscape appears almost untouched in places, while steeply sloping slopes require sure-footedness. The Hörnle viewpoint and the species-rich, flower-rich meadows of the “Rötenbacher Wiesen” nature reserve provide additional variety.

Experience one of the most beautiful hikes in the Black Forest on this circular hiking trail through the Wutach, Gauchach and Enge Gorges. Follow rushing rivers, cross picturesque bridges and pass small waterfalls as the landscape changes from vast valleys to impressive, narrow gorges. The historic castle mill invites you to take a relaxing break along the way. With its species-rich flora and fauna as well as several demanding ascents and descents, this tour is ideal for hikers who want to combine nature experience with sporting challenges.
The Upper Black Forest Shepherd's Trail follows in the footsteps of the shepherd boys who used to guard herds of cattle on the Black Forest farms. Several information boards impressively tell of their often tough everyday life, which was characterized by hardships and work in wind and weather. The premium trail takes you on varied trails along blooming meadows, bright forest edges, rocks and piles of reading stones around Raitenbuch. There are wonderful views along the way, even as far as the Alps when visibility is good.
On narrow paths, this varied tour leads through forests up to idyllic viewpoints with views of Schluchsee and, when visibility is good, up to the Alps. Back in the valley, the trail follows the shore, where beautiful views of the lake open up again and again. Despite the hustle and bustle at Schluchsee, numerous quiet places close to the trail invite you to relax and enjoy. On warm summer days, it's worth packing your bathing suit; several stops along the way and in town round off the tour.
