북한산국립공원, 의정부·서울 Bukhansan National Park, Uijeongbu–Seoul
The Dobongsan Ridge Hike is a demanding traverse beginning near Uijeongbu, climbing Sapaesan and continuing across Dobongsan to Jaunbong. Steep granite ridges, ladders, railings and repeated scrambling make progress slow and physically tiring despite the route’s urban location. This is not a casual summit walk and is best suited to experienced, confident hikers. Allow a full day, carry enough water and wear footwear with reliable grip, especially when the rock is wet.

The Y Valley Loop is a moderate route through Dobongsan in Bukhansan National Park. It passes Sinseondae, Manjangbong, Seoninbong, Madang Rock and the Dobongsan Emergency Shelter, combining forest paths, stone steps and steep granite sections. The Y Valley area includes exposed slopes and handrail-assisted passages that require careful footing, especially when wet. As a loop, the trail returns to its starting point. Reliable hiking shoes, sufficient water and confidence on rocky terrain are recommended.

The Yeougul Out-and-Back Trail is a moderate Bukhansan route beginning at Baegundae Information Center. It passes Harujae, Kkaldakgogae, mountain springs and Yaksuam Shelter before reaching rocky terrain around Baegundae and Mangyeongdae, including Submarine Rock and Yeougul. Forest paths, steep stone steps and granite sections provide varied scenery and a steady physical challenge. Although hikers return by the same route, reliable footwear, enough water and careful footing are recommended, especially on wet rock.

The Baegundae Peak Hike climbs to Bukhansan National Park’s highest summit at 836.5 metres. Several approaches are possible, with the Ui-dong and Bukhansanseong routes among the most practical. The upper section becomes steep and rocky, with granite slabs, railings and exposed footing near the summit. Although the hike is not especially long, it can feel demanding and crowded on weekends. Start early, wear shoes with reliable grip and allow extra time around the summit bottlenecks.
